transitioning to fall

ReneeC tee (Blush boutique)/B.P CollectionVest (Hazel2Blue)/ Tildon Skirt (Nordstrom) - now on clearance at the rack/DolceVita booties (similar)/Michele watch/Bracelets (Lagos), (JCrew)

Fall is right around the corner (although you'd never know it given the temps here in St. Louis) so I thought I'd share an outfit that transitions a great summer piece (the skirt) into fall (the boots and vest.) This vest will be in heavy rotation this fall. It's the perfect layering piece and is perfect for toning down an otherwise dressy ensemble (and protecting your favorite blouse from peanut butter and jelly hands.)

chop chop

I've been thinking about cutting my hair short (er) for a while now. If you follow me on Pinterest you know that I pin a lot of short cuts. A few weeks ago I bumped into a woman with an amazing haircut and made an appointment with her stylist ASAP....okay actually it took me a few weeks to make the appointment but I'm so glad I did.

I'm not sure why but for some reason I find myself feeling extra brave the minute I sit in the chair and this past week was no exception. With a little push from Kristen (my new favorite hairdresser) I said "okay let's do it!"

Kristen Linares is amazing! She's not only extremely talented at cutting hair (and I imagine coloring as well) but she is full of great ideas, has great vision and is just the right amount of encouraging without being pushy. And to boot, she uses and sells Davines hair products, which are almost as amazing as she is. If you live in St. Louis you can set up an appointment with her on StyleSeat (here.) If you don't live in St. Louis you can check her out on her blog (here.)

Here are a couple pics of my new do. Please don't judge my selfies :)

August Birchbox - Must or Bust

Wheeew... Birchbox must think I'm an old lady because 3 out of 5 products I received in my Birchbox this month were anti-aging. Should I be thankful or insulted?

Regardless, without further ado...

(Malin+Goetz) Vitamin e face moisturizer - This would be a great day moisturizer if only it had spf. I used it to replace my nighttime cream and woke up with dry skin. As a disclaimer, my skin does seem to be on the dryer side in general but overall this was a BUST for me.

Mally Beauty Evercolor Starlight Waterproof Eyeliner in Sailor - Yowza this is good eyeliner! It goes on really easily and smooth and lasts all day. Like lasts through a sweat pumpin spin class. I'm planning to reorder this one for sure. MUST

Pur-lisse Pur-youth preserve age delay skin serum - there isn't enough product here to see any anti-aging benefits but the texture is really nice because it has silicons in it, which my skin doesn't really enjoy and the serum smells like chemicals. BUST.

Whish Coconut Milk Correcting Gel - this stuff smells like beach (or coconuts.) To me it feels excessive to layer this on daily under your moisturizer but after a long day at the beach or pool this would feel amazing (an even more amazing if you stored it in the fridge.) If you're planning a vacay to the beach this is a MUST

Whish Hair Inhibiting Deodorant Swipes - I'm not sold on the idea of using a wipe to put on deodorant. I'm a roll-on girl myself. These wipes are pretty heavily scented which I don't love in my deodorant and I only received/tried one wipe so I can't comment on its ability to inhibit hair growth. Ehhh....BUST.
