double up

Dress (old)/J.Crew Top (here)/J.Crew Belt (old)(similar)Madewell Shoes (here - so comfortable!)/Rebecca Minkoff Sunglasses (here)/J.Crew bag (similar)/Michele Watch (here)
I've had this dress for a few years now and could never quite seem to make it work in the summer because, well, it's short, poofy and sleeveless. The amount of draftiness just felt a bit inappropriate for a 33 year old mom of two. However, this dress is in a whole other league when I throw on a heavy weight peplum top with a waist defining belt. Suddenly the short length is SO appropriate and the poof in the skirt is perfect.

  1. I love this dress. Sometimes I find it hard to dress like a "mom." I think the length is perfect. Thanks for linking up!

  2. I love this outfit- I can't believe it's a separate dress & top! I just found your blog through the Tres Chic you have any older posts that show the dress or top on its own? And I think it's not about the age for the skirt's about whether it flatters you or not and that definitely flatters you. :)
